A Success for Cyrus Shoot
Pete Romano, ASC's challenge for shooting underwater sequences of the film The Last Song, starring Miley Cyrus, was capturing exciting footage under a very tight shooting schedule.
Thanks to the underwater Litepanels 1x1 and its integrated battery pack, the shoot was a success.
"The staff of the Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta was very concerned about their four whale sharks and the manta ray getting caught in cables to the surface, so the Litepanels 1x1 with battery pack was the perfect solution," Romano explains.
"I had one of the aquarium divers swim it through the largest aquarium in the world to see how it handled and moved through the water. The buoyancy of the light in the special SeaSun underwater housing and battery pack was just a couple of ounces negative in the salt water, which couldn’t have worked out better. When you release the light, it very slowly sinks to the bottom."
This was not the only time Romano has taken Litepanels under water. He’s used the MicroPro in the SeaSun housing for an episode of Without a Trace as well as several commercials.
Litepanels, the SeaSun underwater housing and Litepanels Backpack PowerCell are all part of Pete Roman's camera package, no matter where he shoots.
