Which Astra IP product should I replace my existing Astra product with?
The product you choose is going to depend on what features are important to you. If portability and lighter weight are your top priority, or if you’re often working in small spaces and have restricted overhead access, then choose the Astra Half. If higher output is required, for example pitch side or other bright and varying environments or higher lighting grids, then you may benefit from the additional output and intensity of the 1×1.
If you’ve been using Astra Softs previously then you can use the included diffusion panel to create studio soft light. For this, we would recommend the higher volume of light produced by either the Astra IP 1×1 or Astra IP 2×1.
Which accessories are compatible?
Astra IP retains the key features of the Astra range but is a fundamental redesign of the product. While a small number of
accessories are still compatible, some accessories will need additional adaptor plates and other accessories simply won’t work. A table outlining compatibility can be found here.

Will you be providing an equivalent range of accessories for Astra IP?
Yes. All sizes of the Astra IP will have a full accessory set relevant to their use. Not all accessories are being released
immediately so
please contact us if you have a requirement that you can’t find.
Can I still use the same batteries to power Astra IP?
Yes. We have deliberately utilized higher output LEDs while limiting the total power draw of the Astra IP fixtures to ensure they are suitable for the wide range of mobile power options currently used with Astra. In addition, a new (optional) battery bracket allows the use of Sony BP-U batteries if preferred.. Nulla dignissim mollis consequat.
Why does Astra IP have a 30-degree beam angle?
A 30-degree beam angle maximises the punch and throw of light but still provides a circle of light wide enough to use
without diffusion. When a softer light is required, use the included medium diffusion sheet. You can soften further and
increase the size of the source using optional dome diffusers and softboxes.
