We at Litepanels are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Rodney Charters, ASC, CSC, NZCS.
Rodney was instrumental in the launch of our brand. While our team built the gear, it was Rodney who embraced this first-of-its-kind LED technology, putting it to work on the hit show 24 in 2001. We remain grateful that he consistently gave credit to our new lighting tools for helping bring his vision to the screen.
Our thoughts are with his family, his friends, and the entire cinematography community. Thank you for your trust and your art, Rodney.

“Back in 2007 I used the first Litepanels 1x1 LED fixture and it changed the way I work in the field. I’ve had a soft spot (pun intended) for the brand since those days and it’s amazing to see how far the technology has advanced with the Astra Half IP. I’m using the Astra on an NBC show in the wilderness of Oregon and it’s just as punchy (but, smaller) compared with the previous Astra 6X. It’s incredible to have this much output in a small weather resistant fixture that is a breeze to travel with for small crews. - Graham Ehlers Sheldon, ICG Local 600 DoP”
